What’s making your color fade?

There are many things that can attribute to color fading. Just off the top of my head there are a few that come to mind.

  1. Environmental Stressor(s) in this case the sun. The UV LIGHT from the sun causes color to fade. You can protect your color from fading by wearing a HAT or using products that contain UV protection.

  2. The products we use - It is always best to use salon quality products. This will ensure the best longevity for your color. Salon quality products have many benefits for the health of your hair. Please see what your stylist recommends for your haircare needs.

  3. Oils 🤔there are a lot of different oils that can fade/strip color. Always be sure to check the ingredients. Recently, I had a client who’s root faded within 2 weeks. As a stylist, I like to see what has changed since the last color/hair service. PROCESS OF ELIMINATION is always a great way to start. In this case it was narrowed down to an oil that contains TEA TREE. Tea Tree oil is an astringent, which means it fades color. While there are many products that contain small amounts of Tea Tree Oil that are color safe, in LARGE quantities it can fade color.

✨For reference, this client uses an oil that contains tea tree oil. She uses a great amount of the oil everyday concentrated at the top/front of her head. (SEE PICTURE)
