What exactly is Cleansing Conditioner? Who is it ideal for?
Why you shouldn’t use ONLY cleansing conditioner…..
Cleansing Conditioner or co-washing is a thing. It is ideally used on curly hair or hair that is looking for some extra hydration. However it should not be used as your primary shampoo. If you plan on washing with just a cleansing conditioner, I recommend to only do so ONCE A WEEK. When washing your hair it is important to cleanse the hair and scalp. This means you need a lather to remove dirt and oils from your scalp and hair. Cleansing conditioners do NOT provide a lather, so if used as your regular shampoo your hair follicle may not breathe at its best, which is required for healthy growth. What cleansing conditioner can do for your hair is provide moisture! Depending on the length of your hair (below ear) I would still recommend a conditioner as well.
What’s all the FUSS about?
As a stylist I always love to try products before I share them with friends, family and clients. I also really wanted to see what all the FUSS is about when using a cleansing conditioner. When I first used a cleansing conditioner my thought was….Where the heck is the lather? Well there is no lather but oddly my hair felt clean, moisturized, silky and shiny! I washed my hair using ONLY cleansing conditioner as I wanted to experience the product on its own to see how it performed.
When adding a cleansing conditioner into your haircare routine it is best not to use just the Co-Wash as your primary shampoo! Be sure to play around to get your favorite hair cocktail.
